Crop tops and pencil skirts are one of my favorite looks; I've seen them all over the pinterest world, and I decided to give it a go. I got this crop top in Chicago, and I was hesitant because I don't think I have enough torso for a crop top. I have a really reallllyyy short waist but for some reason where the pencil skirt hit, it just worked!

8 Things I Wish I Could Tell My Teenage Self

So a few people have inspired me lately to write this. A few people have reached out to me since high school and asking how I changed and what I did in my life to grow and reach a point in my life that I’m at now. I'm not tooting my own horn I have a lot of places in my life that I need to grow in but I do look back at my old 16 year old self and see that I am 100% different than I used to be. So I thought I'd share with you a few things I’ve learned on the way and want I would now, tell my teenage self.

1. Surround yourself with like-minded people,
Positive people. People who are better than you, people who will encourage you to grow and go after your goals. People who you inspire to be/who you want to be.
It will rub off of you, and you will let go of your baggage and you will grow and be the person you aspire to be.

2. Be grateful for the people who have talked you down or who told you, you couldn't.
You deep down know you’re better than that; those people are just shaping you and making you stronger and able to you grow.

3. Not everyone is going to like you, not everyone is going to want to be your friend and not everyone is going to be your friend and that's Okay! Just make sure you like and love yourself. Be YOU.

4. Failure is the process of growth
Your mistakes make you grow, and it makes you better. Do NOT be afraid of failure because if you have a fear of failure, you won't end up doing what you had a fear of doing because of failure, and then failure and fear won because you never did it. Did you catch that? If not read it again.

5. Be your biggest fan without putting down others. Believe in yourself, read personal growth books. Believe in what you want to do, the sky is the limit.

6. Respect your parents, they have your best interest at heart even if it doesn't seem like it at the time. Treasure them and spend time with them. Even if they say something that might not come across as they do, they want the absolute best for you, and they’ve lived just a bit longer than you have.

7. Remember, friends come in for a season, a reason and a lifetime. All of the arguments, stresses with friends will pass. And the ones that are supposed to stick with you, they will.

8. The people that make success is because they worked hard and had the belief in themselves. You can do it I promise you.

So I hope you liked those few things I'd tell my teenage self, I'm sure there's a ton more but mainly just don't worry, don't stress because life is beautiful and you get one shot of this. So stay in gratitude and happiness and have complete belief in yourself that you can make shit happen.

Life's Sunny Moments

One of my sunny things is my Fiancé, Matt, With all of the changes going on lately I've had unbelievable support from him and I really can't thank him enough. As much as this blog is mine it's his too because of all the hiccups behind my day to day posts. He's always fixing the problems that I make (coding to be exact... lol) and I can't thank him enough for that.

Changes in season, this is my favorite time of year, I love the crispness in the air and candles at night. There's something about this time of year that just feels warm and comfortable.

Even though this happened in September one of my happy moments was that I got to write for On The Town Magazine, I was thrilled when they asked me to write their fashion column for September! It was a great experience, and it opened up a lot of doors from there!

Another favorite thing of mine issss beer. Yes, as I posted below talking all about Osgood their beer is great annnd I really really dig it!

Life has been crazy lately. I feel like I've been on the go non-stop and if you or anyone that knows me knows that I get hangry QUICK, and I need something in my stomach NOW. Lol you can ask Matt that poor guy has to deal with my crazy hungry needs alllll of the time. Almost every time we leave the house his question before we go "did you eat something...?" lol! I've been loving these Nakd bars by Nakd Whole Foods. They're a great thing just to keep in my purse so that whenever i'm feelin' the hangry mood coming on I can fix it with my Nakd Whole Foods bar! It gives me a good boost of energy, and they have a good source of protein! OH! They're also gluten, wheat and dairy free so it's great for just about anyone! Check them out here!

Osgood is one of Matt's and I's favorite place; they have great beer and ammmmmazing pizza, like real amazing. Our favorite is the PBS Special, and my favorite beer is the Sol Seeker and the orange wedge completes the taste! You can see the full menu here.

So if you guy's are in the Grandville area make sure you check out this little gem!

Fall Lips

I love a good lip color, I think they're a great foundation to the face. According to Jenna Marbles, they're the Las Vegas of your face which I 100% agree with! (yes I just quoted Jenna Marbles.) Lol! Especially fall lipsticks I love the darker hues I think they just add a great statement to your look. Also, if you don't feel like goin' all out with your eye's no prob bob just throw on a bold lip, and you're good to go.

1. Bold RedNow I think a bold red can go in just about any season. But I think in the fall and winter it's a bit more acceptable for a day to day basis. Because of the darker and more muted clothing styles in cooler weather a bold red lip just pulls the outfit together.

2. Very Berry, Berry lip colors are myyyy favvvvoooriteeee! I think the can just about complement any skin tone. The hues in berry color bring out just about any eye color and "hint hint" they make your teeth look extra white, now I don't know how or why but all I know is that the cooler tone of the color really makes those pearly whites look extra white!

3. Suede NudeNude lip colors are a great for a day to day basis if you do not want to go for that bold red. My favorite is to pair a nude lip with a dramatic smoky eye.

4. Just PeachyA darker peach color is perfect for the fall; It is a great go-to lipstick if you're not feeling a bold color or a bare lip. Go for the darker peachy colors they're a great day-to-day look.

Black Edge

Outfit - Down To Earth // Shoes - DSW // Photography- Rachel Kaye Photography // Rachel's Style Blog

Happy Saturday Guys!!

This week was great, busy but great! Lots of exciting things happening and it's a bit overwhelming and scary, but growth and changes are scary and good, right??

Anyways leeeeets talk about this outfit. Seriously obsessed. The dress has a real edge to it but then the sparkles to "girl" it up! I dunno, all of it is just perfection, and I'll go as far to say I'm in love! Also this photo shoot with Rachel was awesome this was actually for a winter project and well, It's October and no snow. I'm not complaining about that because I wouldn't put it past Michigan to snow in October. So our "snow" solution was Epsom salt. Yes, that awesome white dust you see in the photos is Epsom salt #epsomsaltinhairfordayyyyzz but totally worth it because the photos came out awesome as per usual with Rachel's skills.

Well, I hope you guys have a beautiful and terrific weekend!! xo
